Walking in Clackmannanshire

Clackmannanshire offers lots of opportunity for exploring outdoors which is suitable for all ages and abilities. There are many established walks within the glens of the Ochil Hills, along the foot of the Ochils or within Gartmorn Dam Country Park.

For the more intrepid, excellent views are your reward for ascending Dumyat – take a selfie at the cairn and use the #DiscoverClacks on social media and we will share your post!

Or make use of the new boardwalk and raised viewing platform within Black Devon Wetlands and view a mosaic of untouched wet grassland and wet habitats, an important area for large flocks of wintering wading birds and wildfowl.

There is lots for families to see & do in Clackmannanshire and with the Year of Young People 2018 in Scotland, there is no better time to do it!  From exploring the brooding, medieval Castle Campbell to a fun and energetic game of Footgolf at Muckhart Golf Club, our itinerary has it all!

On Foot

If you do not have a car to explore the Wee County, why not take the train to Alloa Station and follow our trail around Alloa Town Centre?  The highlight of the trail is Alloa Tower!  This bold medieval keep may look forbidding but inside it’s full or art and riches, not to mention a few intriguing tales …
