Discover Clackmannanshire is a partnership of local tourism operators, business groups and agencies including Clackmannanshire Council and VisitScotland, all working together to grow the area’s tourism industry and its contribution to the national Tourism Scotland 2020 strategy.
The group aims to help grow Clackmannanshire’s visitor economy to £20million by 2020 by attracting more visitors and building the area’s profile through a focus on its natural, cultural and built heritage and easy access from the cities.
They plan to prioritise activity that will give Clackmannanshire a greater online presence, with a refreshed tourism website and new social media activity to inspire visitors with ideas for breaks in and around the Ochils.
The partners are also looking at improvements to local heritage interpretation and developing the area’s events programme by tapping into national opportunities including the forthcoming Year of History, Heritage & Archaeology 2017.
Steven Campbell, Chairman of Discover Clackmannanshire, said:
“Clackmannanshire has stunning landscapes, great walking and cycling country, unique historic attractions and a rich heritage of making, brewing and distilling – all packed into a small area right on the doorstep of the cities. That’s a huge opportunity to draw many more visitors here, and we need to start by shouting louder about what’s great about this area.
Having grown up in this area, it’s very exciting to have the chance to play a bigger part in growing our tourism industry. The partners in the Discover Clackmannanshire group bring a wealth of experience, expertise and passion to the table, and I’m confident that together we can put Clackmannanshire on the map as never before.”
