This fine independent museum was set up in 1988 and occupies two floors of an early 19th century woollen mill and has permanent displays about the history of Dollar and its environs.
On the first floor is a reading and research room and on the second floor Dollar Museum has a temporary exhibition programme and new exhibitions that are updated regularly.
The main exhibition for 2018 is “The Dollar Community and the Great War”, marks 100 years since the end of the 1st world war. The second exhibition, The Bicentenary of Dollar Academy, celebrates the 200th anniversary of the founding of Dollar Academy in 1818. The third exhibition display celebrates 30 years of Dollar Museum. The museum which first opened in Easter 1988 in the old school house then moved up to the Castle Campbell hall.
